I’m Carl, an independent product designer and engineer.

Most of my work happens with early-stage teams trying to get something new into the world, or larger organisations trying to make their product, design, and engineering work fit together better.

Over the last fifteen years I’ve worked with startups, scale-ups, public institutions, and brands including Sky, NowTV, Sony Pictures, and others. I’ve mentored designers and engineers in Toronto, Beirut, Dubai, and Manchester, and taught workshops on privacy-preserving tools in Berlin.

More recently, I co-founded a data-sharing network, built an Apple-featured music review app, and helped founders move from loose ideas to working products. Most recently, I acted as Head of Product Design at a company valued at $2bn, following earlier leadership roles across payments, wallets, and ecommerce.
